generation (noun)
The process by which an AI model produces new output based on patterns it learned during training. This might be text, an image, or another kind of material, depending on what the model is built to generate. For language models, it happens one token at a time, each one chosen based on everything that came before it.
Example: "Image generation took a few seconds longer than text generation because of how much more detail had to be produced."
